1871 census living at Bevis Marks Spanish and Portuguese Orphan School, St Katherine Cree, City of London, Benjamin Bittan was arrested in Port Said Ceylon on board the ship Nepaul bound for Australia with Abram Guites and Ms Pollock. Remanded in prison on the 23rd November 1886. At the Old Bailey, London on 28th February 1887 he was sent to prison with 18 months hard labour after a trial for Aiding and assisting ABRAHAM JOSEPH GUITES leaving England with intent to defraud his creditors.2
