1921 census living a1 British Street, Poplar, London with Mother and father Thomas Palmer and half siblings all with surname wrongly given as PALMER. June 1936 joined as a steward on The Orient Line passenger ship, the Orford. This ship led the line of merchant ships at the ceremonial opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 1932. Built by Vickers Amstrong at Barrow in 1928, the Orford was bombed and beached at Marseilles while evacuating troops from France in 1940. In 1947 the Orford was refloated and scrapped.
Bobby jumped ship abroad and returned by 1937 and obtained a licence as a boxing timekeeper.
Wrestler when young, Enlisted at Uxbridge joining R.A.F. 7th Sep 1939 during W.W.2 and became Sargent P.T.Iinstructer. No. 901957 in 907/8 Sdg based at Tangmere. Later film stunt man e.g 'Room at the Top' and TV wrestling referee. Owned Antique buisness. Before retirement was car delivery manager for Alan Day Ltd of London. No children.
