Note on Husband: Charles ALTENACKER (BURCHELL)
According to the membership registers of the Free Masons a Leopold Altenacker joined Royal York Lodge in Brighton on 21 December 1822 from Bavaria, where he had been made a freemason. He served as Worshipful Master of the Lodge after 1822. Free Mason papers also indicate that Leopold was a perfumer and an insolvent debtors for 23 July 1831, at 1 Egremont Place, Edward Street, then 1 Western Road, but late of East Cliff, Brighton. He continued his membership up to at least 1833. It is interesting to note that a Charles Altenacker (the same person?) joined Royal York Lodge also as a perfumer on 3 February 1835 and continued his membership until 1846.
